Cooking Classes go hand in hand with the Edible Forest. Our Edible Forest is a hive of activity and growth all year round. Perhaps you are having the same experience with your garden. In every home garden we sometimes have far higher yields than we can utilise. This is where the process of Pickling and Fermenting your excess can be a wonderful skill to learn. Not only will pickling extend the life of your produce it also offers many gut health benefits. Pickling and Fermenting are simple, long lasting, nutritious, and flavourful ways to enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables from your own backyard.
In 2018 Louise opened the Edible Forest as a place for everyone who needs a garden to be happy healthy and inspired. The Edible Forest is a place for education, healing and inspiring. As part of her education goal Louise loves teaching visitors all she knows about pickling and fermenting in her Wild Fermenting classes.

Louise leads you through the techniques and importance of incorporating good gut health into your diet. You will sample and learn how to make fermented foods such as pickling. Explore the art of fermenting your own vegetables and discover how easily these and other fermented foods can be included in your diet for better gut health.
The cooking classes focus on:
- Learning healthy alternatives to some common items used in cooking which are better for you.
- Making 2 different types of pickles that taste delicious and so so amazingly good for you.
- Learning more about healthy gut snack choices.
- How to make Miso Soup, a quick and easy gut friendly soup sure to help you stay happy, healthy and vibrant.
At the conclusion of the class, filled with new knowledge, you will tour the Edible Forest.
The whole experience is sure to leave you filled with knowledge. You will have a restored love for your garden and a better understanding of your health needs.
