Cooking Classes FAQ
What Happens if I need to cancel my booking:
Our Cooking Classes are small, so unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds. Please contact us if you need to cancel and we will do our best to fill your spot from the waiting list. If we are able to fill your spot, we will happily re-book you for another class or a later date. We would also encourage you to offer your place to a friend! We will do whatever we can to make things work for you, although more notice is better than less.
Where are you located?
Within the Yarra Valley Estate property at 2164 Melba Hwy, Dixons Creek, Vic 3775. Once you arrive, you will see the signs directing you to the Edible Forest & Harvest Hub. Look for the Edible Forest Logo along the driveway edge.
How can I get to you?
Driving is best, although we do have an airstrip and helicopter pad! Seriously though, there is no public transport and taxis are not always reliable in the Yarra Valley so I’d recommend you drive and enjoy the scenery on your way to us.
Can I stay?
Yes, we do offer self-contained accommodation at Yarra Valley Estate. A perfect way to make a ‘weekend experience’ is to stay the night before or after your cooking class. Please enquire with us for availability and prices.
How many people are in the class?
Our classes require a minimum class size of 8 people and we comfortably accept a maximum of 20 participants. *Please note; Edible Forest/ Harvest Hub reserves the right to reschedule all bookings if the class does not reach the minimum required.
What is the class format?
In our Cooking Classes, the 20 participants are standing around 5 benches (4 people at each) with the chef demonstrating at the kitchen workbench placed at the end. In this intimate environment, the chef will take you through in detail, the preparation of each of the recipes, breaking down the essential techniques and teaching you about the ingredients used and where to source them. All the food created is served to the participants so you can understand, and discuss with the chef, how the techniques and ingredients have contributed to the elements of the final dish. Our classes are a part demonstration, part hands-on format.
Do I get to eat the food?
All food that is made in the class is taken home for the participants to enjoy
What if I have dietary requirements?
We are happy to advise the chef if you have any dietary requirements however we cannot guarantee that the chef will be able to cater for these changes. In some cases, it may be easy for the chef to create a separate serving without a particular ingredient, however if the ingredient is integral to the recipe (e.g. dairy in a pannacotta) it may be that no alternative can be offered, and you will have to elect to not eat that particular dish. If this is the case our chefs will be more than happy to offer advice and suggestions for creating the dish at home using alternative ingredients.
Can I send someone else in my place?
Yes, you can send someone else in your place if you cannot attend, please provide at least 3 days’ notice.
What if I can no longer attend the class?
Please refer to our Terms & Conditions here
When will the new class schedule be up?
