Food is medicine at the Edible Forest Open Day
We are always told to eat healthy, but now we are making it easier for you as your whole garden can be edible or medicinal. The Edible Forest Yarra Valley are opening their forest to everyone – food lovers and gardeners alike!
“It is like nothing you have ever experienced before” said Louise Ward, owner of the Edible Forest, “Imagine walking into a forest, it’s lush and green, the bees are buzzing and it is good for you. Green spaces are good for your mental health and now this one is helping your body too.” She further added “We can show you how easy it is to include edible plants into your existing garden and have the added advantage of being able to enjoy edible and medicinal plants as well”
Located at Yarra Valley Estate; the permaculture inspired garden has 850 plants carefully selected with the purpose of being medicinal or edible. Weave your way through the 6 different areas including tea, wetlands, bush tucker, sensory, berry & woodlands.
It will be a fun filled day with live music, wine tasting from our neighbours at Steels Gate, food trucks and a kids zone. Express cooking classes in our Harvest Hub and Tours of the Edible Forest are available on the day with proceeds going to Global Gardens of Peace; a garden charity we support.
The Edible Forest Open Day takes place from 11am – 4pm on Sunday 24th November at Yarra Valley Estate, 2164 Melba Hwy, Dixons Creek.
